Deeds Registry Data
Property information displayed on DeedsCheck is sourced from the South African Deeds Registry, which is a public record maintained by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development. This data includes:
- Property descriptions (erf numbers, townships, sectional titles)
- Transfer history and transaction dates
- Property owner names (in paid reports only)
- Bond registration details (in paid reports only)
This information is publicly available under South African law. We present it in an accessible format and do not publish personal information beyond what is available in the public deeds registry.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only with:
- PayFast — for payment processing
- Lightstone — for property data enrichment
- Law enforcement — when required by law
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage, and access controls.
Data Retention
Order and report data is retained for the period required by South African tax and financial regulations (minimum 5 years). Anonymised search logs are retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
